Grading System
A student's grade consists of two major categories :formative assessments (60% of final grade) and summative assessments (40% of final grade).
Formative assessments are employed throughout the learning process. These include:
Weekly linguistics assignments
Daily silent reading logs
Daily classroom performance (participation, citizenship, etc.)
Tajwīd assignment
Summative assessments are a summary of a student's development at a particular point in time.
These include:
Tafsīr, Linguistics tests, Tajwīd tests /Quizzes.
Please : Note that a student's culminating projects and portfolios are included as summative assessments

The Reading book is given to students to be read in class as well as at home but to be returned to class on a daily basis. Students are to record what they read in class and at home in their reading log.

- The Qur'an handout is given in order to memorize from it after listening as many times needed from Sheikh Al-Hosary on www.quranexplorer.com; this also must be brought back to class everyday. Please check your child's Qur'an folder for Surat memorized and those to be memorized.All students will be tested on Surat Al-Fatiha, Ayatul Kursi, and the last 12 Surahs before moving into anything new.
